Is the unemployment benefit a salary and are all immigrants entitled to receive it?

The unemployment benefit is not a salary. Salary is a financial compensation paid by the employer to the employee. The unemployment benefit is a benefit intended for temporary support until you find a job. It is money paid by an authority to the unemployed to secure a livelihood when seeking employment.

Receiving unemployment benefit implies certain obligations. This means, that you are required to:

  • accept work, education or training offered by the TE Office
